She doesn't fully care for people being bossy with her, and is more of one to go her own way.
Due to her stubborn streak and want to be rather independent, she can have a habit of pushing some people away, but she cares for those that are close to her beyond what words can fully and properly describe. If you threaten those that she cares for, you better watch out, because she doesn't let it go easy.

history;; Dylan Sanders was born Helen Zaas, and remained under her birth name until she was placed in the Witness Protection Program after witnessing her boyfriend, a man with the famous O'Grady Crime Clan, commit a murder and then testifying against him. She never knew her father, and lost her mother when she was young, around age six. Because of this, she grew up independently and had to learn a lot of things the hard way. She was a rebellious spirit as a younger woman, and had less than beautiful grades in school

She briefly was working with the Memphis County Police Department, the local department from the area she grew up in, but was kicked out when charges were filed against her for assault when she punched a Commanding Sheriff in the face during a line up. After that, she left the Department and left her effects behind when she did.

She made her way through the days with odd jobs, including working as a bartender, field guide and rodeo entertainer as just to name a few of the wild things she has done.

She ended up working as an Angel for Charlie Townsend, a private investigator, alongside two fellow Angels, Natalie Cook and Alex Munday. With that work, she had a close relationship with her fellow Angels, and she also got into some trouble during her work with the Angels.

When Eric Knox, a technology star, was originally believed to be kidnapped, Dylan tackled the case with Natalie and Alex, and ended up getting emotionally involved with the case when she fell for Eric. But it was through that that she ended up figuring that Knox and his partner, Vivian Wood, were behind the whole scheme. Knox's technology, which they were made to believe had been stolen by Red Star, a rival company, was not stolen, and Knox wanted access to Red Star's technology to pair it with his software in order to locate Charlie, who he blamed for his father's death. It was on this case that Dylan showed how much she had invested into her position on Charlie's then three-Angel team, and she had come to view Charlie, by this point, as a father figure that she had never had when she was younger.

In another case Dylan worked on with Natalie and Alex, a list of people in the Witness Protection Program was taken, putting everyone on the list at risk. It was in this case that Dylan revealed that she herself was on the list, and she had been put on that list when she witnessed her former boyfriend commit a murder. She told the story of her boyfriend and also revealed that her name was originally Helen Zaas. Further investigation of the case proved that it was Dylan's boyfriend, whom she had help put away by testifying against before she was put into Witness Protection, that was behind the stealing of the list, which was kept on two separate rings. Working with Natalie and Alex, the Angels recovered the rings and solved the case.

But it was that case that first made her keep her distance from Natalie and Alex for a short while, fearing that they would be hurt because they were her friends. It was the first time she really considered leaving the Angels, but Natalie and Alex later convinced her to stay on.

For a brief time, she retired from being an Angel, but she returned to the agency and resumed work.
